North Cobb Photo Club Homework Guidelines for 2022

Each month we’ll have a homework subject.

The purpose of homework is to encourage members to:

  1. Use good composition and exposure techniques
  2. Explore different features of their cameras.
  3. Develop and demonstrate creativity and imagination
  4. Photograph familiar subjects in new ways
  5. We will critique our photos and compare our interpretation to others at each month’s meeting.

The bottom line is to have an objective to concentrate on. Be put in a position where you can take several photos of the same thing at different camera settings and angles. While you may submit photos taken years ago; it defeats the whole purpose of having homework assignments. Besides learning about your camera, use this opportunity to play around with whatever photo editing software you are using. The chances are very good that if you find out something new about your camera or editor, there is someone else in the club who will benefit from what you have learned.

The goal is to improve our photos.

At the end of each meeting, time permitting, we have a Round Table to discuss the next month’s assignment.

The specific subjects were chosen by the board and the members.  Everyone is welcome to attend our board meetings and contribute to the planning.

What photos do we submit for homework?

  1. Photos that are of the theme of the monthly subject.
  2. Photos can be taken at any time during the last 12 months or even further back if necessary.
  3. Photos we want to be critiqued that may not be of the monthly subject.
  4. Photos we may wish enter into a photo competition for review.

You are not required to participate in homework assignments if you prefer not to.

Up to two photos are to be sent to Ron (rlee91@bellsouth.net) prior to the meetings or brought to the meeting on a USB flash drive. The files and folder should be plainly named and easy to find. To save time at the meetings, please send your photos to Ron prior the meeting.

Be prepared to talk about your photo, how you took it and any editing.
